Mill Creek Park features a large pond and is home to a variety of wildlife such as aquatic birds and the occasional reptile, amphibians and small mammals. Popular seasonal activities include the holiday tree lighting, Winterfest, ice skating, summer concert series, and Art in the Park.

A small sand and pebble beach for swimming and hanging out in the sun. At low tide, tidal pools offer wildlife discovery opportunities. In the summer, there are lifeguard hours, a bathhouse with showers, and a snack bar.

Large waterfront park with Bug Light lighthouse featuring sweeping views of the city of Portland coast line. Seasonal events include a Kite Festival, Summer Movie Nights, a car show, and a day-long 4th of July celebration culminating with clear views of Portland's fireworks display across the harbor.

The Boys & Girls Club offers a variety of programs for youth in South Portland including STEM, cooking club, fitness and track & field, art, and technology. Transportation and need based sliding scale options available.

Wainwright complex has several athletic fields for baseball, softball, lacrosse, soccer, hurling and football. In the winter Wainwright has cross country skiing and snowshoeing trails.

The Redbank Community Center hosts the Teen Center for 6th-12th graders. Register with South Portland Rec for the year and drop in any time during hours. The center has a full sized gym, a kitchen, and an activity room filled with art supplies, foosball, video and other games. Homework help is also available at the start of each afternoon.

South Portland Recreation offers seasonal sports leagues, summer camp, creative STEM-based programs and community events—there’s something for everyone. The community center also has a pool. Check the seasonal Rec brochure for current offerings. Several programs are offered on site at the middle school. Scholarships are available for all youth programs.

SMCC offers more than 40 academic programs and coursework that high school students may enroll in. The campus is accessible by the greenbelt walkway, walking routes to Spring Point Lighthouse and waterfront views close to Willard Beach.
